In a scary wake-up call for parents, expert Dr Kristy Goodwin explains why digital devices are leading to kids failing to make memories.

A growing number of children could be suffering “digital dementia” because of the impact of smart phones and tablets on their little minds, according to a leading child learning researcher.

Dr Kristy Goodwin said children were at risk of shorter attention spans and impaired language skills when they entered school because of the impact of digital technology.

She said teachers reported primary school students were unable to memorise basic maths and failed to use expressive language skills.
